Fall is here in Maryland, and the views are nothing short of incredible.

I woke up this morning to morning light out of one window and a thick wall of fog out of the other.  I knew I had to throw up the drone to see what it looked like from above, and I do not regret that decision!

This time of year, the water is often warmer than the air — especially in the mornings.  The water heats the air directly above it and forces it upward.  As the warmer air travels up through the cold morning air, a layer of fog often forms directly over the water.  This can create dramatic scenery when the light from the sun’s low position on the horizon is refracted though the dense fog. To me, it almost looked like the water was on fire!

This panorama shows how the fog is hanging almost exclusively over the water and how it picks up the suns rays in quite an awe-inspiring manner.  At least I think so.  I hope you enjoy this photograph as much as I do!

best,
